Being proactive, recognizing signs of threats, and knowing what to do in times of potential violent situations in the workplace, will be the topic of an upcoming program sponsored by the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce.
Recognizing Threats and Taking Action, (Threat Hunting 101), is an evidence-based course which was developed as a proactive measure to prevent the horrific acts we see every day in America and beyond. This program, combined with an Active Shooter discussion from the Decatur County Emergency Management Agency, will be presented by Bob Ray, former Director (Supervisory Special Agent) of the Inspector General Criminal Investigator Academy, which provides training to 4,500 federal criminal investors in 72 federal office of the Inspector General. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), where he served as Deputy Assistant Director, provides training to more than 90 federal law enforcement organizations, and regularly trains more than 30,000 law enforcement officers annually. The Inspector General Criminal Investigator Academy is one of 25 separate academies on the FLETC campus.
The Active Shooter in the workplace discussion will be conducted by Rob Duckworth of the Decatur County Emergency Management Agency. Duckworth will discuss the role and actions of area law enforcement in an actual active shooter event at your workplace.
In this interactive and engaging course (Threat Hunting 101), you will be given enough information to develop a hunter-like mindset, teaching you to proactively hunt and identify threats in your daily environment. In the end, you will embrace a commitment to act, not based on perfect decisions, but “good enough” decisions, decisions to protect yourself and the lives of co-workers, family members, friends and neighbors.
This is a two and a half hour course with two sessions being available to members of the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Dec. 14. The sessions will be held at the Decatur County School Corporation Administration building, 2020 N. Montgomery Road, Greensburg. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. and the program will be repeated at 1:30 p.m.
While there is no charge to attend this program, reservations are required and may be made on the Chamber of Commerce website at www.greensburgchamber.com or by calling 812-663-2832.
