The Indiana high school diploma is changing - are you ready for what this means for your workplace?
Join us on Thursday, August 21st for an important power hour designed specifically for employers, HR professionals, and community leaders who want to understand how these changes will affect workforce development, internship programs, and hiring strategies.
This session will feature experts from the Indiana Department of Education, Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, Ascend Indiana, and Conexus Indiana, who will break down the updated graduation requirements and explain how businesses can play a key role in student success and talent pipeline development. Attendees will also gain insight into the new diploma structure, how to align work-based learning opportunities, and what employers can do to stay ahead in the competitive labor market.
Locally, we're looking at 200-225 students in Decatur County who will need to complete work-based learning hours in order to graduate. That's over 200 opportunities for local businesses to engage, mentor, and help shape the future of the workforce - starting now.
You'll also learn what counts as work-based learning, how it's defined by the state, and what this looks like from the employer side - from hosting interns and job shadows, to mentorships and hands-on training. Whether you currently offer student opportunities or are just starting to think about it, this session will provide clarity, direction, and actionable steps that you can take as a business owner or professional.
The general public is invited to attend and lunch will be provided.
You MUST RSVP as there is limited seating!
